Footies or Old-Fashioned Slippers
Pattern includes both Women's and Men's Sizes
Materials:
- 4 oz. worsted weight yarn [Ed. note: 55-75 yd/oz, 180-240 m/100g]
- 1 pair American size 10.5 (6.5 mm) needles for Women's size,
or
- 1 pair American size 11 (8 mm) needles for Men's size, or
- any size needles that will give the stitch gauge given below
Gauge:
- Women's size: 7 sts = 2 inches, 7 rows = 1 inch on size 10.5
needles, or
- Men's size: 3 sts = 1 inch, 6 rows = 1 inch on size 11 needles
NOTE Yarn is used doubled throughout.
Using size 10.5 (11) needles, cast on 29 sts.
- Row 1: Knit
- Row 2: K9, *P1, K9, repeat from * once
- Women's size: Repeat these two rows until there are 14 ridges
on right side, ending with Row 2.
- Men's size: Repeat these two rows until there are 17 ridges
on right side, ending with Row 2.
Shape Toe:
- Row 1: P1, *K1, P1, repeat from * across row
- Row 2: K1, *P1, K1, repeat from * across row
- Women's size: Repeat these two rows 3 times more.
- Men's size: Repeat these two rows 4 times more.
- Repeat Row 1.
- Break off yarn, leaving 8 inch end.
Finishing:
- Pull yarn through all sts on needle and draw up tightly. Sew to start
of ribbing to form toe.
- Fold cast on edge in half and seam for center back.
- Optional: Make twisted cords for ties and run through top of
slipper and tie.
