Circular Scarf
This pattern was adapted from a WWII-era British Good Housekeeping leaflet
entitled "Good Housekeeping's Forces' Knitting Book".
Materials Required: 10 oz. 4-ply wool (Lt. DK or Lt. sport weight)[Ed. note: 75-110 yd/oz, 240-360 m/100g ]
Needles: Size 7 (4.5 mm) circular needle
Total finished length = 48", total finished width= Double 8"
Cast on 108 sts. (The scarf is knitted as a long tube with both ends
open.) Place marker at beginning of row.
Pattern Stitch
- * K 1, K next stitch through the loop below instead of the loop on
the needle, K 1, p 1 *.
- Continue working pattern from * to * to end of round.
Work in this pattern for 48". Bind off loosely (or at same tension
as cast on stitches).
To wear as a scarf, fold tube in half. To wear as hat/turtleneck combo,
slip the tube over the head.
